Warriors Fight Back in Game 2

Despite holding a convincing lead for most of Game 1, the Warriors fell apart in the fourth quarter.
However, in Game 2, the Dubs came out firing and didn’t take it easy until the final buzzer. Steph Curry led the way with 29 points to grab the spotlight, and youngster Jordan Poole also proved his worth by coming off the bench to score 17 to round off an attacking masterclass.

Although their attack looked much sharper, Golden State’s defensive game made the difference on Sunday.

Although their attack looked much sharper, Golden State’s defensive game made the difference on Sunday. The Warriors capitalized on the Celtics’ sloppy play by effectively swarming Al Horford, Marcus Smart, and Derrick White to limit their open looks.

Despite managing 40% from deep, Boston committed a total of 18 turnovers which Curry and co. turned into 33 points.

The Warriors put the game out of reach in the third quarter by outscoring Boston 35-14. They also managed to overwhelm Ime Udoka’s squad down low, beating them 40-24 in the paint. After a full-throttle performance in Game 1, the Celtics looked unable to show the same aggression in the second game of the series.

Therefore, the C’s need to refind their mojo quickly to keep their NBA title hopes alive.

Celtics vs. Warriors: Which Team Has Better Betting Value?

Boston’s Jayson Tatum has been arguably the best player on the planet for the last six weeks. He’s the playoff scoring leader and has improved all aspects of his game to give the Celtics a decent chance of winning a ring.

Al Horford’s and Jaylen Brown’s athletic performances have helped Tatum become a formidable opponent.

Al Horford’s and Jaylen Brown’s athletic performances have helped Tatum become a formidable opponent. The Duo’s work rate and depth have closely matched Golden State on offense while also helping keep the defense solid to free up Boston’s star player.

Derrick White and Marcus Smart are also pivotal components to their team’s final run, as they are Boston’s main hope of running Golden State’s Splash Brothers (Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson) off the three-point line.

But although the Celtics are a defensive powerhouse, the Warriors proved in Game 2 that they can unpick the lock. Curry and Klay are lethal outside the arc, and Andrew Wiggins has demonstrated that he is one of the best third options. Poole’s raw energy and ruthless shot searching also caused Boston plenty of headaches on Sunday.

Therefore, the C’s need to get organized to stop these attackers from stealing the series in the next few games.

As it now stands at 1-1, both teams have betting value. Yet when you consider that the Celtics were at -180 after Game 1, are now at -110 before hosting the next two matchups, and usually bounce back after a loss, the C’s look like the slightly better futures option.
