jon rahm masters 2022 favorite
John Rahm is the betting favorite.

Vegas oddsmakers have made John Rahm the opening favorite (+900) to win the 86th edition of the Masters. The first major of the year hit the headlines after Tiger Woods stated that he could make a much-anticipated return to professional golf at Augusta.

Although Woods hasn’t officially confirmed his participation, online sportsbooks have him at +5000 to win the 2022 tourney.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is the second favorite to win the PGA major championship.

Scheffler and Smith Have Attractive Odds

Unsurprisingly, bettors are choosing to wager on Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Smith at online golf betting sites to win the 2022 masters over Rahm.

Scheffler has emerged victorious in three of the last five premium tourneys (WM Open, Arnold Palmer Invitational, WGC-Dell Match Play) to ascend to #1 in the world. Therefore, at +1200, he represents decent betting value. Last month, Smith won the Players Championship and finished as a runner-up at the Masters in 2020.

Last month, Smith won the Players Championship and finished as a runner-up at the Masters in 2020. With +1400 opening odds, he will keep attracting wagers before Vegas oddsmakers reassess their predictions.

Yet Rahm’s record at the Augusta National makes him the most likely winner: the Spaniard has finished fourth, T9, T7, and T5 at the last four Masters.

Brooks Koepka: The New King of the Majors?

In twelve of his last 16 major championships, Brooks Koepka has finished no lower than seventh – this run includes his four major titles (2017 and 2018 US Opens, 2018 and 2019 PGA Championships).

However, he has never won at Augusta; the best he placed was T-2nd in 2019 and T-7th in 2020.

Nevertheless, this will do little to stifle the 31-year-old’s belief that he can win the Masters. In his last six times teeing it up, Koepka has had T-3, T-5, T-12, and T-16 finishes (including two missed cuts). Also, he made the quarter-finals of the Dell Match Play.

So at +2000 odds and with his impressive record in mind, he’s a tempting futures betting option.

Betting Long Shots for the 2022 Masters

Tony Finau (+6500)

Despite struggling this year, Tony Finau has appealing odds when considering his pedigree at this event. In three of his four Masters, he’s posted top-10s – including a T-5th in 2019. Also, it will interest golf bettors to know that he entered the tourney in poor form the last two times he managed T-10s at this championship.

Gary Woodland (+10000)

As the 2019 US Open champion has featured on multiple leaderboards of late, he represents excellent betting value. Woodland was T-5th in consecutive weeks at the Honda Classic and Bay Hill (where he led with two holes to play) and managed a T-8th at the Valero Texas Open.

So although he’s a long shot, he’s on a fine run and could up it a gear at the Masters. But whether he has the gears required to upset the odds remains to be seen. Still, at +10000, underdog lovers will back him.
