Oliveira vs Poirier Betting Preview
This will be Poirier’s second attempt to be the undisputed UFC lightweight champion, having fought, and lost via submission, to former undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in September 2019. Poirier could have been one of the contenders for the vacant title in the spring, but he instead opted to go for the financial rewards of another fight with McGregor.
Both of these fighters have varied skill sets, although Oliveira probably has the advantage on the ground, whereas Poirier is the better fighter standing.
The recent wins over McGregor have been headline grabbing for Poirier, but there are question marks over just how relevant the Irishman is in UFC today. The value bet in this fight could be in backing Oliveira based on his results of late.
Oliveira vs Poirier Betting Odds
This is very definitely a fight that could go either way, with Poirier being the marginal favorite in the Fight Result betting at –170 with online betting site Bovada. Backers of Oliveira can get odds of +139 on their man retaining his title.
Kai Kara-France v Cody Garbrandt
Also on the UFC 269 card is a Flyweight bout between New Zealand’s Kai “Don’t Blink” Kara-France (22-9-0) and the American Cody “No Love” Garbrandt (12-4-0).
The 30-year-old Garbrandt is a former bantamweight champion, but he has lost four of his last five fights, including three by KO. His last fight at bantamweight saw him lose to Rob Font via a unanimous decision in May this year. He has now decided to drop down to flyweight.
The 28-year-old Kara-France was last in action in March this year, when he won by 1st round knockout against Rogerio Bontorin.

Kara-France v Garbrandt Odds
Garbrandt is a narrow favorite with Bovada in the Fight Result betting odds going into this contest at odds of –175, with Kara-France available at +142, with the drop in weight expected to give the American the edge. That might not necessarily be the case though.
Amanda Nunes v Julianna Pena
There is also another title fight on the card, with the current bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes (21-4-0), putting her bantamweight belt on the line against Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Pena (10-4-0).
Amanda Nunes | Name | Julianna Pena |
---|---|---|
21-4-0 | Record | 11-4-0 |

Amanda Nunes – The 33-year-old Brazilian is currently on a hugely impressive 12-fight winning streak, with her last victory coming against Megan Anderson via a 1st round submission in March this year.
Julianna Pena – The 32-year-old American challenger last fought in January this year, when she defeated Sara McMann by 3rd round submission. Pena’s certainly not lacking in confidence and self-belief coming into this fight against the legendary Nunes, but the odds on offer with Bovada don’t really support her claims, with the champion available at –900, while Pena can be backed at +550.
Nunes looks a class above her opponent and her record of late does little to suggest that she will be beaten here.
