After previous favorites Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers crashed out of the running last weekend, Patrick Mahomes is now the Super Bowl 56 MVP frontrunner. Although we still don’t know which two teams will face each other in the biggest game in football, bettors are already wagering on who will bag the award. The exits of Brady and Rodgers have paved the way for Patrick Mahomes to be Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career. Online sportsbooks made Mahomes the MVP favorite after he threw for over 375 yards and two-plus touchdowns in each of his first two playoff games this year. The 26-year-old’s groundwork in the postseason clash with the Bills also helped his case. In the 42-36 win, he torched the Bills for 69 yards on seven carries.
If the Kansas City Chiefs overcome the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL AFC championship game this weekend, his MVP Super Bowl 56 odds will tumble. Therefore, many futures bettors are placing action on the quarterback before the Chiefs host the Bengals at the Arrowhead Stadium.

Many think the Los Angeles Rams quarterback has the best Super Bowl MVP betting value at +330. The latest Super Bowl odds show that Stafford and the Rams are favored to go all the way. Before the Rams beat Brady’s Buccaneers in the NFL divisional round, top NFL betting sites had him at +1000. Still, many will agree that the 33-year-old has decent betting value.
Although Stafford didn’t need to do much in the Ram’s Wild Card Weekend victory over the Cardinals, he stepped up to the plate against the Bucs. If the Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers to make it to the Super Bowl, Stafford could lead the franchise to their first ring with an MVP-winning performance.

Along with the running backs bagging the award seven times, linebackers have won it four times, as have defensive ends and safeties (twice each). After this, a cornerback, a defensive tackle, and a kick returner have all been Super Bowl MVPs once. Since 2000, quarterbacks have been MVP a total of 14 times.
