Injuries – Super Bowl 56
Despite some recent hard-fought games, both teams go into the Super Bowl without major injuries. The only possible doubts are each team’s starting tight ends. In their Championship Games, CJ Uzomah (Bengals) and Tyler Higbee (Rams) suffered knee sprains. The Bengals are confident that Uzomah will play a a part in the Super Bowl, but Higbee could be sidelined for the Rams
Also, Los Angeles running back Cam Akers (shoulder) and wide receiver Van Jefferson (knee) left the field in the first half against the 49ers. However, they shook off these knocks to make quick returns and should therefore be fit to play this Sunday.
Can Los Angeles Cope With Joe Mixon?
Although the Rams were 17th in the NFL in total defense during the regular season, they were the sixth-best team against the run. Seven-time All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s ability to clog opposing teams is behind this impressive record. In the recent playoff games, the Rams have allowed 162 rushing yards. Also, despite having the seventh-best in the league rushing attack in the league during the regular season, the 49ers only averaged 2.5 yards an attempt against the Rams.
Although Joe Mixon finished third for rushing yards in the regular season (1,205 yards) with the Bengals, he hasn’t surpassed 100 yards in his last eight appearances. As a result, NFL betting lines for the Bengals vs. Rams only favor Los Angeles by 3.5 points, which will lead many to bet the over on rushing attempts. However, Mixon’s recent track record suggests that rushing will come under this Sunday.
Bengals Have Solid Passing Game
Despite The Rams only allowing an average of 220.7 yards in the playoffs, they’ll line up against a different beast in Super Bowl 56. The defense will have to bring their A-game to contain Burrow and his band of star receivers – rookie Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd
Another damming stat is that the Bengals had the seventh-best passing offense during the regular season. So although Burrow hasn’t yet gone past 280 yards in the postseason, Cincinnati’s passing game is no joke. Additionally, Chase is pure quality. During the regular season, the 21-year-old averaged 18 yards a reception, caught 81 passes for 1,455 yards, and got 13 touchdowns. The stats suggest that Chase will likely go over 100 in Super Bowl 56.
