Western Conference
The new NBA season has started with defending champions, Los Angeles Lakers, looking strong favorites to not only secure the Western Conference finals again, but also retain the NBA championship.
The support for the Lakers is understandable, as they have not only retained LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but have also strengthened their roster with the additions of former Defensive Player of the Year, Marc Gasol, and the current Sixth Man of the Year, Montrezl Harrell.
The major threat to the Lakers for the Western Conference is likely to come from the Los Angeles Clippers, with the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz being the teams hoping to take advantage should the LA duo fail to live up to expectations.
The Lakers are looked the team to beat but they were beaten 116-109 by the Los Angeles Clippers on the opening night of the new season.

Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference looks the more difficult to call, with the Milwaulkee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors all seen as genuine contenders.
In the Eastern Conference, the Celtics might be worth staking a few bucks on.

Top NBA Scorer
In individual markets, James Harden is the market leader in the NBA Scoring Leader market. It’s easy to see why, as the best shooting guard in the NBA topped the averages with 34.3 points per game last season.
LeBron topped the Assists last season with an average of 10.2 per game. He’s sure to be a leading contender again this time, but faces stiff competition from players such as Trae Young, Luka Doncic and Russell Westbrook. Doncic could provide the biggest challenge to LeBron.
Andre Drummond led the way on Rebounds last season with 16.2 per game. His main challengers this season, according to the sportsbooks, are expected to include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Rudy Gobert and Hassan Whiteside. Giannis could take the title this season.
MVP Award
Speaking of Giannis, he will be pursuing a third consecutive Most Valuable Player award and has to be in with every chance of succeeding in that quest. However, there could be serious competition from the likes of Doncic, James, Davis, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. Again, Doncic might be the man to back here.
