Winner: Jiri Prochazka by KO/TKO (Elbow to Head) – Round 2 (4:29)

Jiri Prochazka may have already earned himself a title shot after just two UFC fights. At the UFC Vegas 25 main event he battled it out with former title challenger Dominick Reyes for almost two rounds before a stunning spinning elbow strike flattened Reyes and sent him face first into the canvas.

“It was a very nice fight,” Prochazka said after his victory. “I just want to show the beauty of the art but sometimes I go very quickly for the win. By that, I catch some punches. I’m learning still from fight to fight.”

Prochazka made just the third spinning back elbow knockout in UFC history and also cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting up-and-coming fighters in the UFC promotion.

Featherweight

Winner: Giga Chikadze by KO/TKO (Kick to Body)- Round 1 (1:03)

Rising star Giga Chikadze completed the best win of his career by destroying Cub Swanson with a vicious liver kick that sent the veteran to the canvas in the opening round. He followed up with some punches to the head before the ref stepped in to stop the fight.

The Georgian fighter is now 6-0 since joining the UFC in 2019 and is heading towards the featherweight top 10. He’s now hoping for a matchup with former UFC champion Max Holloway in his next fight.

Light Heavyweight

Fight Result: Draw- Round 3 (5:00)

Ion Cutelaba and Dustin Jacoby slugged it out for the full 15 minutes in a bruising encounter that ended in a draw.

The fight swung back and forth making it a tough one for the judges to score. In the end they scored the contest 29-28 Cutelaba, 29-28 for Jacoby the third judge scored the fight 28-28 making it a split draw.

Middleweight

Winner: Sean Strickland by Decision – Unanimous- Round 3 (5:00)

Sean “Tarzan’ Strickland dominated this entire fight to earn an impressive unanimous decision win. Strickland has now put together three wins on the spin since returning from an horrific motorcycle injury in 2018 that almost ended his career. Since then he has beat Jack Marshman, Brendan Allen, and now Jotko.

In a post on Instagram after the fight he said “Just want to give a big thanks to everyone who watched the fight and allowed me to be here. I am beyond grateful… To my coaches and training partners I wouldn’t be here without you guys grinding it out in the gym with me everyday. Onto the next!!”

This win establishes Strickland as a top-15 middleweight fighter who looks destined for a matchup against a top-10 opponent next time. Among the fighters in the top-10 without opponents are Uriah Hall, Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier.

Bantamweight

Winner: Merab Dvalishvili by Decision – Unanimous- Round 3 (5:00)

Merab Dvalishvili comprehensively outpointed Cody Stamann with a 30-27 and two 29-28 scores on the judges’ cards to take his winning run to six. He is now looking for a step up in competition in his next fight.

When asked about his next opponent Dvalishvili said “There is four other former champions in our weight class, T.J. Dillashaw, Jose Aldo, Cody Garbrandt, Dominick Cruz and Frankie Edgar. But I don’t want to fight Frankie Edgar. I have a lot of respect for him and he’s a legend. He deserves a title fight or something big. He’s a legend. Other guys, why do they have to wait so long? They have to fight me and move forward.”

Women’s Strawweight

Winner: Luana Pinheiro by DQ- Round 1 (4:16)

Luana Pinheiro. a Contender Series vet, won her first octagon bout in an unusual way as Randa Markos is disqualified for an illegal upkick at UFC Vegas 25. Pinheiro has now won seven bouts straight.

For Markos, it was an unfortunate way to suffer a fourth straight loss but her illegal kick rendered Pinheiro unable to continue. Markos, who has now lost five of her last six UFC fights, was very emotional at the decision.

Because the referee Mark Smith ruled the kick intentional Markos received the disqualification. Had the kick been deemed unintentional then the fight would have been declared a no-contest.

Featherweight

Winner: TJ Brown by Decision – Split- Round 3 (5:00)

TJ Brown earned a hard-fought win by decision over Kai Kamaka to record his first Octagon win at UFC Vegas 25.

After receiving a UFC contract via Dana White’s Contender Series, TJ Brown went 0-2 and was desperate to get that first win on the board.

In a fantastic fight, Kamaka landed a takedown with two minutes left with Brown running out of steam. Brown managed to get back to his feet with just a minute left and hooks were exchanged as both fighters went for it in the closing seconds. In a split decision the judges scored the fight 27-30, 29-28, 29-28 in favor of Brown.

Women’s Flyweight

Winner: Luana Carolina by Decision – Split- Round 3 (5:00)

This all-Brazilian matchup saw Luana Carolina, who had missed the flyweight limit by 2½ pounds on Friday, (7-2) beat her countrywoman Poliana Botelho (8-4) by split decision.

Botelho started well but Carolina fought back well in the second and third rounds which saw her get a win on two of the three judges’ scorecards with all three scores being 29-28. Botelho has now lost three of her last four fights.

The 27-year old Carolina is now back on the right path after her previous loss ended a six-fight winning streak.

Women’s Strawweight

Winner: Loma Lookboonmee by Decision – Unanimous – Round 3 (5:00)

Loma Lookboonmee earned a good win over Sam Hughes after an arduous 15 minutes in the Octagon at the UFC Vegas 25 prelims.

Lookboonmee backed up her dominant win over Jinh Yu Frey last time out and is quickly making a name for herself in this division. Loma was able to evade most of Hughes strikes and also defended the takedown well.

In the third round Hughes needed a KO but was unable to get it. Final result – (29-28 x3)

Middleweight

Winner: Andreas Michailidis by Decision – Unanimous- Round 3 (5:00)

Andreas Michailidis from Athens became the first Greek fighter to claim a UFC victory in the UFC Vegas prelims after defeating 34-year old Canadian KB Bhullar in an exciting fight on Saturday night.

Michailidis looked for an early KO and hurt Bhullar in the opening round. Bhullar responded with a vicious strike early in the second round but it was deemed to be illegal.

Eventually the Greek fighter managed to overcome his opponent via the judges’ scorecards which had Michailidis winning by UD. (30-27 x2, 29-28).

Featherweight

Winner: Felipe Colares by Decision – Unanimous- Round 3 (5:00)

Felipe Colares came back from the dead to snatch victory when rallying to beat Luke Sanders at UFC on ESPN 23.

Colares record now reads 10-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC but he suffered a brutal thumping from Sanders in the first round of this card opening fight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Colares hit the deck multiple times and the fight was on the verge of being stopped by TKO. But then, in a Rocky Balboa-esque comeback, he turned it around in the next rounds. He hurt Sanders with several big shots and slammed him to the canvas.

The bout was in the balance into the third but Colares emerged the winner by unanimous decision with scores of 29-28 across the boards. Sanders has now lost three of his past four bouts

In his post-fight interview with Paul Felder, Colares said “I feel great. An amazing moment for me. Thank you for my opponent.”
