The US Tennis Open is set to begin on Monday 30th August 2021 in New York with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No.2 Daniil Medvedev and recent Olympic gold medalist Sasha Zverev as key players in the Men’s Tournament.

The 2021 US Open will be the first Grand Slam event without Serena Williams, Roger Federer, or Rafael Nadal in the main singles draw since the 1997 US Open.

Novak Djokovic

Novak is looking to be the first player since Rod Laver to achieve the men’s calendar Grand Slam, meaning he will have won the four major tournaments in the same calendar year. Novak won the Australian Open beating Daniil Medvedev, beat Stefanos Tsitsipas at the French Open and won Wimbledon after defeating Matteo Berrettini.

He recently pulled out of the Western and Southern Open that’s held in Cincinnati to recuperate after playing in the Olympics in Tokyo. At just 34 years old he is currently tied with Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal at 20 Grand Slam titles and is looking for a record 21st in New York.

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil has been a Grand Slam finalist twice and is looking for his first major win. He lost to Rafa, in what was a truly epic five setter US Open final in 2019 and has been one of the more productive men’s players on the hard courts over the last few years. He claimed the men’s title in Toronto a few weeks ago and has been playing at a consistently high level.
Based on the draw, he cannot meet Novak before the title clash and with a number of past champions out of the competition, he has stated that he is feeling confident in terms of his preparation to try and win the US Open.

Sasha Zverev

Sasha is coming off his amazing win at the Olympics and reached the US open final a year ago, where he lost to Dominic Thiem. He heads to the US Open after an 11 match winning streak, beating Andrey Rublev in Cincinnati to claim his fifth Masters 1000 title and as the World No. 4.

We await the start of the US Tennis Open with anticipation and look forward to seeing these great players in action.
