Super Bowl LVI Preview: Rams-Bengals Odds, Predictions & Match-Ups

The stage is set, the Rams will face off with the Bengals at home at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Feb. 13. The game will air at 6:40 pm ET and the game will feature entertainment from some of Inglewood’s very own talents including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J Blige.

Super Bowl 56 Odds

The Rams are a favorite to capture their second Super Bowl title, the hometown advantage, form, and the fact they beat the Bengals 24-10 in their most recent game in 2019 all probably play into those odds. However you just cannot rule out the Bengals this year, they started with some of the longest odds you can find in NFL betting and they are still here, and hungry for their first Super Bowl win.

The Bengals have a few things going for them, they’ve made the Super Bowl twice before but came up short, the most recent being in 1989, and after all, it is the year of the tiger.

The Longest Odds in Super Bowl History Repeat

This year has certainly been full of upsets in the world of Football, but the craziest story of all is the Bengals making the Super Bowl when they started the season as a 150/1 shot to become champions. It didn’t look great for them pre-season with  Joe Burrow their second-year quarterback still recovering from a torn ACL. Some people even got bets down during the team’s rough start to the season at 200/1 including 17 bets for an undisclosed amount at the Las Vegas Superbook.

Bengals will be one of only two teams since 1977 to make the Super Bowl when starting the season as 150/1 underdogs. The last team to defy the odds were actually the Rams themselves back in 1999 when they would silence critics in their championship win against the Titans.

The Most Expensive Super Bowl Tickets to Date

It’s nothing new for the price of tickets to increase, in the humble beginnings of the Super Bowl you could have watched the Packers vs Chiefs for a mere $12, which equates to around $90 in today’s money. However, this year’s tickets went on sale from $7,000 for the cheapest seats, up to $75,000 for the best views in the house, which is an all-time high.

With this being the first Super Bowl in Los Angeles in 30 years, it comes as no surprise there is a huge demand, and with the Rams playing, it’s no wonder LA residents are chomping at the bit for these tickets. Some ticket re-sale platforms like SeatGeek and StubHub have seen tickets selling for over $100,000 to the game.

Pregame Info: Rams vs Bengals

The Rams finished the regular season at 12-5 and were seeded 4th in NFC. Look for the Rams front four, with defensive tackle Aaron Donald and rusher Von Miller, this is a big mismatch against the Bengal’s offense and will likely cause the Bengals some issues.

Problems could arise with coach Sean McVay though, as he has a history of being too trigger-happy with the use of timeouts and can sometimes overthink plays. If the pressure gets to him come game time, this could be the Rams unraveling.

The Rams do have Stafford with the 5th most regular-season fourth-quarter comebacks in NFL history on their side as well as high-quality receivers in the shape of Odell Beckham Jr. and Cooper Kupp.

The Bengals finished the regular season at 10-7 and were also ranked 4th in AFC. The team has a huge amount of momentum and belief on their side and that’s half the battle with coming out as the champions at the Super Bowl. Another thing they have going for them is that they have nothing to lose, the numbers say they should never have made it this far, so look for some more of the bold plays and flair to come out.

As the worst performers of the 2019 season, the Bengals reward was Joe Burrow, the now number one pick quarterback will look to lead his team to their first Super Bowl win. We have seen him perform under immense pressure, completing 7/12 passes in the matchup against Kansas City, and converting 3 third downs via scrambles.

We saw the Bengals go down to a 21-3 deficit before making the come back against the Chiefs, although they made some major defensive adjustments to do so, if they start off on the wrong foot like this against the Rams, it’ll be over before it’s begun.

Head-to-Head Record: Rams vs Bengals

Whilst the Rams and Bengals have never met in a Super Bowl previously, the pair have played each other 14 times in total, with the Bengals leading 8-6.

Whilst most of these clashes are in previous decades, the pair did face off back in 2019 with the Rams running away with a convincing victory on the road back then.
