Penn State heads to Iowa in the biggest game of the college football season so far. Since beating Arizona, Penn State is 1-15 vs. teams ranked in the top five of the AP Top 25 – the Nittany Lions’ last win was over No. 2 Ohio State. Head coach James Franklin will now be looking to improve that record when facing Iowa.

The Lions’ quarterback Sean Clifford played exceptionally in his team’s 24-0 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in Week 5. Clifford threw for three touchdowns and connected with wide receiver Jahan Dotson on eight passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are coming off a big 51-14 win over the Maryland Terrapins. Iowa destroyed the terps and forced seven turnovers. Also, the Hawkeyes quarterback Spencer Petras collected five touchdowns, throwing for three and bumping in two on the ground at the goal line. Despite this high-scoring result for the Hawkeyes, their offense hasn’t been the best. And the Nittany Lions offense has also failed to hit top gear this season. Considering these shared attacking weaknesses, along with the fact that both teams have played solid defense this season, it looks like this matchup will be a low-scoring affair.

Although online sportsbooks have tipped the Hawkeyes as favorites for this colossal game of college football, Sean Clifford’s quality could be the deciding factor in a close victory for the Lions.

The Bulldogs have looked like a finely tuned machine recently – they haven’t allowed a point in two games and pulled off a resounding 37-0 top-10 win over Arkansas in Week 5. But, even though they are huge favorites to beat the Auburn Tigers, they have some quarterback questions. Stetson Bennett IV started last week in place of JT Daniels, but that hasn’t seemed to have affected performances so far.

As for Auburn, they topped LSU in Baton Rouge for the first time since 1999. Quarterback Bo Nix put in a magical performance against LSU, but he will have his hands full this weekend against a solid Bulldogs defense that has scored more points than it has allowed.

Before the college football season started, many saw this upcoming matchup as the biggest of the season. However, Texas A&M hasn’t lived up to the preseason hype. The Aggies got upset at home by Mississippi State last week and have an offense that struggles to move the football downfield.

However, No. 1 Alabama silenced any doubters last week by completely dismantling No. 17 Ole Miss 42-21. Therefore, a win looks on the card for the current kings of college football.

Low scoring games had led Sooners fans to chant for quarterback Spencer Rattler to be benched in Week 4, but things seemed to click in their 31-37 Week 5 win against Kansas State. In fact, Rattler looked like the 2020 version of himself. He hit 22 of 25 passes for 243 yards and was effective running when lanes opened up.

Because Rattler was briefly benched in the win over Texas last year, he will be looking for redemption against the Longhorns. This individual back story and return to form could interest anyone looking to place college football prop bets. Also, a win for the Sooners against the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl could help prove that Riley was right when he said the unit wasn’t far off. The question is: can Oklahoma pull off a high-scoring win to make a statement?

Both of these teams got smoked on the road by fellow SEC squads. For this reason, each one will want to get a convincing win. This matchup looks like it could go one of two ways: the Rebels could force the Razorbacks into a shootout, or the Hogs could play old-school, smashmouth football. However, as Ole Miss has a better quarterback in Matt Corral, the Rebels have a good chance of upsetting the odds.
