The American League East, or AL East as it’s commonly referred to, is one of the six divisions that make up the Major League Baseball (MLB). The division began its inaugural season in 1969, alongside the West division. The majority of the teams in the division are on the east coast of the United States, with the only exception being the Toronto Blue Jays, who play out on the east coast of Canada. The most successful team in this division is the New York Yankees, who have come out on top 19 times.
