Mackenzie Dern (11-1-0) and Marina Rodriguez (14-1-2) meet in a women’s strawweight bout that’s the main event at UFC Fight Night at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada (part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area) on Saturday, 9 October.

These are two of the leading contenders in the strawweight division, with Dern currently ranked tied-4th in the strawweight rankings, with Rodriguez ranked 6th. This will be the first time that Dern has been the UFC main event.

In the Fight Result betting, Dern is the marginal favorite at –165 with the leading US sportsbook Bovada, while backers of Rodriguez can get odds of +135 on her winning the fight.
Dern is a fighter who is very much on an upwards trajectory and that momentum, coupled with her excellent grappling skills, could continue with another win here that would take her closer to a shot at the title.

The 28-year-old Dern, from Phoenix, Arizona, is known as a submission specialist and is currently on a four-fight winning streak. Three of those four wins have been via first-round submission.
Her last fight was in April this year, when Dern stopped Nina Nunes in the latter seconds of the 1st round after locking her in a tight armbar for the finish.
Marina Rodriguez Odds
The 34-year-old Brazilian Rodriguez, who made her name in Dana White’s Brazilian version of his “Contender Series” back in 2018, comes into this bout after a headlining unanimous decision victory over Michelle Waterson in May this year.
Rodriguez has a standup style and largely focuses on her boxing skills.
