Glover Teixeira vs. Jiri Prochazka

The night’s main event will see the new king of the light division take on UFC newcomer Prochazka. Teixeira has stated that he will fight twice more before retiring, while his opponent has had only two bouts in the UFC.

Prochazka is a wild man, and he can take a shot. But how will he do on the ground? I think Glover has an advantage there.

Glover Teixeira got his sixth win in a row when he took the belt from Jan Blackowicz with a second-round submission in October.

The Brazilian conquered this division of killers at the ripe age of 42 years. Beating the likes of Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba, and Karl Roberson without a single loss.

With 2.11 TDs per 15 minutes, Teixeira likes to grapple but lands his fair share of big shots with 3.72 significant strikes per minute. According to the sportsbooks, the old hand is the underdog to keep his belt. He will need to weather a 4-inch reach deficit from his opponent, that is 13 years younger than him.

Jiri Prochazka is the betting favorite with odds of -195 to become the new champion. The Czech fighter has only fought twice in the UFC but has impressed immensely. He got a second-round knockout against Oezdemir on his debut and got the win against Dominick Reyes with a spectacular spinning elbow.

The 29-year-old might be new to the franchise, but he’s no rookie. He dominated the Rizin Fighting Federation, capturing both the middleweight and catchweight belts.

Michael Bisping has waded in with his claims that “Prochazka is a wild man and he can take a shot. But how will he do on the ground? I think Glover has an advantage there.”

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Taila Santos

This co-main event will decide if Shevchenko can make her seventh successful women’s flyweight title defense in a row against Taila Santos. The championship fight is set for five rounds and will see the belt holder take on the number four in the division.

Valentina Shevchenko looks unbeatable. She has finished four of her title defenses with stoppages and has been the champion since 2018, when she beat Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Sportsbooks predict that the Kazakh fighter known as “Bullet” will tear a hole in her newest challenger, setting the odds at -600 for her to win.

Taila Santos fought Joanne Wood to decide who would get the number one contender spot. Santos dominated that fight and secured a shot at the belt in the first round with a rear-naked choke.

The Brazilian has just one professional loss which came from her UFC debut back in 2019. Since then, she has beaten some big names in the division, including Molly McCann, Gillian Robertson, and Roxanne Modafferi.

While the 28-year-old is facing a fighter that is at the top of her game, you cannot count Santos out. She has a 2-inch reach advantage, lands 2.44 takedowns per 15 minutes, and has a 68% finishing rate.

Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk

The last time these pair met, it was back in March of 2020 to decide who would be the strawweight champion. Zhang Weili took the belt after a split decision from the epic five-round battle back then. There’s no title on the line this time, but this promises to be an intense bout that is set for three rounds.

Weili was undefeated in the UFC until she fought Rose Namajunas to defend her title. After losing her belt in the first round at UFC 261, she tried to get her title back at UFC 268. She was unsuccessful, losing by a split decision.

Magnum has an 81% finishing rate and shoots 1.75 takedowns per 15 minutes but will have to overcome a slight reach from her opponent. The sportsbooks have the former champion as the favorite to win with odds of -185.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk hasn’t fought in over two years. During that time, she has been working on her wrestling skills, building up her takedown defense, and improving her ground game.

The Pole is taller than Weili and carries a two-inch reach advantage. However, her finishing rate is much lower, at just 32%. She also only shoots 0.28 takedowns per 15 minutes, so we can expect Jedrzejczyk to want to keep things standing.

The first time these pair met is still considered one of the best UFC fights of all time, so this promises to be a great re-match.

Rogerio Bontorin vs. Manel Kape

This flyweight matchup sees Kape try and break through Bontorin to make his way into the top ten.

Rogerio Bontorin has been on the slide in the division for a while. The Brazilian has lost to Ray Borg, Kai Kara-France, and Brandon Royval. While his only recent win came from a fight against Matt Schnell at UFC 262 that was ruled no contest.

Bontorin is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has an 83% finishing rate. Most of his wins come from his submission skills, so look for him to take this fight to the ground.

Manel Kape had a rough transition to the UFC from Rizin FF. He lost his debut fight against Alexandre Pantoja and went on to lose a split decision against Matheus Nicolau.

The Portuguese flyweight didn’t let this adversity slow him down. The 28-year-old finished up 2021 with two amazing knockout finishes. Landing a flying knee knockout against Ode Osbourne at UFC 265 and finishing Zhalgas Zhumagulov in just one round a few months later.

“Starboy” is sitting at number 14 currently and is the favorite to pass Bontorin and propel himself up the rankings in this thin weight class.

Jack Della Maddalena vs. Ramazan Emeev

This welterweight bout will kick off the UFC 275 card in style. Jack Della Maddalena is new to the franchise and this bout against the well-established Emeev will prove if he is the real deal.

Maddalena earned his spot in the UFC with a dominant win on Dana White’s Contender Series. The Aussie followed that up with a first-round knockout win against Pete Rodriguez at UFC 270.

The 25-year-old, that previously fought in the Europa MMA (EMMA), is riding an 11-fight win streak. With ten of these victories coming from stoppages. Despite this impressive record, the odds are evenly spread, with Maddalena never facing someone of this caliber.

Ramazan Emeev is coming off the back of a split decision loss at the hands of Danny Roberts. Previous to this though he had only lost once in the UFC, with five wins against David Zawada, Niklas Stolze, Stefan Sekulic, Alberto Mina, and Sam Alvey.

The Russian is much older than Maddalena and will need to overcome a four-inch reach deficit. He has a great grappling game and will look to mix in takedowns and test the Aussie’s defenses.
