Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (25-7-0) and Ciryl “Bon Gamin” Gane (9-0-0) clash in an interim heavyweight title fight that’s listed as the main event at UFC 265 on Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

This bout was arranged after the proposed rematch between Lewis and Francis Ngannou was postponed after Ngannou and his team were unable to agree a date for the fight.

Derrick Lewis – The 36-year-old Lewis will be fighting in his home city and will be in confident mood after a KO win over Curtis Blaydes in his last fight, which was in February this year. That stretched his current winning streak to four fights.
“The Black Beast” fought for the heavyweight championship back in November 2018, but was beaten via a 2nd round submission by Daniel Cormier.
Lewis is renowned for his strength and punching power, having recorded a heavyweight division best of 12 knockouts in his career to date. That one-punch KO power means that Lewis can never be discounted.
Ciryl Gane – The 31-year-old Frenchman is a rising contender and has a 100% record coming into this bout, with his last victory coming as recently as late June via a unanimous decision over Alexander Volkov. Gane’s other victories includes wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Junior dos Santos and Tanner Boser.
Gane is a more athletic fighter and an excellent technical striker. Before entering MMA he excelled in kickboxing and Muay Thai. He is also an improving grappler and has a decent defense.
Gane v Lewis – Who wins?
Unless Lewis can KO Gane, it’s difficult to envisage how he can win this fight, with the Frenchman possessing all the technical advantages over his opponent.
Gane isn’t known as a significant high output striker, so this could well go the distance with “Bon Gamin” taking the decision.
Jose Aldo vs Pedro Munhoz Preview
The co-main event is a bantamweight bout between Jose “Junior” Aldo (29-7-0) and Pedro “The Young Punisher” Munhoz (19-5-0).

Jose Aldo – The 34-year-old Brazilian Aldo is a former featherweight champion who has fought some top fighters in recent times, which goes some way to explaining why he has lost six of his last 10 bouts. He is however coming off a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera last December, snapping a three-fight losing streak in the process.
Aldo is known as a great striker, with fantastic kicking power and excellent takedown defense. It could also be a significant factor that he has a five-inch reach advantage over Munhoz.
Pedro Munhoz – Fellow 34-year-old Brazilian Munhoz was last in action in February this year, when he had a unanimous decision win over Jimmie Rivera.
Munhoz has a good combination of powerful boxing and leg kicks, while he also possesses good submission skills.
However, he hasn’t been in the octagon with the same level of opponents as those faced by Aldo of late and it’s the more experienced Brazilian who looks likely to come out on top in this encounter.
