The 2021 Rolex Paris Masters, which begins this Monday, will see Daniil Medvedev try and defend his title and the return of number one seed Novak Djokovic. Get insights and the latest odds for this Masters tennis tournament.

The Top Contenders

Five-time champion Novak Djokovic is back in action for the first time since losing in the US Open and is the top seed in Paris. Defending champion Daniil Medvedev is seeded second, and Stefanos Tsitsipas is seeded third. All three will be looking to win this last Masters 1000 event of the year.

1. Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is now officially the most decorated men’s player in history. The Serb has won this Masters title five times, and to date, is the only player to have retained the trophy. It will take everything for the other contenders to beat him. Currently, the 34-year-old is tied with Rafael Nadal at 36 ATP Masters titles each. If the top-ranked Djokovic can triumph again on the indoor courts, he will become the player with the most Masters 1000 titles. Djokovic has received a bye in the first round and has been drawn to face Marton Fucsovics or Fabio Fognini in the second round. The Serb owns a combined 11-0 head-to-head advantage against the two players, meaning he should not be tested too much in his opening game.

2. Daniil Medvedev

The number two of the tournament, Daniil Medvedev is the reigning champion and has won four titles this year, including the US Open and the Toronto Masters. Based on his current form, he has an excellent chance of retaining his title. Medvedev has received an opening-round bye and has been drawn to face Ilya Ivashka or Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round.

3. Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is yet to get past the last eight in this tournament but with two titles won this year (one being the Monte Carlo Masters), he could pose plenty of problems for the other contenders. The Greek has received a bye in the opening round and will face either Lloyd Harris or Alex de Minaur in the second round. Tsitsipas has a resounding 6-0 head-to-head advantage against Alex de Minaur, but he has never faced Harris before.

4. Alexander Zverev

Germany’s Alexander Zverev starts the race as number four in Paris. He was the 2020 runner-up, received a bye in the first round, and opens his campaign against Dusan Lajovic or Mackenzie McDonald in the second round. Neither Lajovic nor McDonald has managed to win more than one match at an event in the last couple of months, so they are unlikely to pose much of a threat to Zverev,

Others to watch include Cameron Norrie, Jannik Sinner, and Casper Ruud, who have all been in good form of late and are on the hunt for vital ranking points.

Key Factors to Consider for Betting on the Paris Masters

Current Form

Check out the players’ current form such as the win/loss index. There’s plenty of information available, including who has been winning a lot of matches and who hasn’t, which can be used to make predictions.

The Level of Tennis Played

Look at the level at which a player has been competing. A player may be winning plenty of matches, but at what level? A solid performance in a Grand Slam, Masters, or ATP 500 event indicates top form against the best players around. However, playing well in a 125 or 250 event isn’t so good.

The Playing Surface

The Paris Masters is a hardcourt tournament and will favor some players more than others. So it’s worth looking at the records of players to see on which surface they achieve their best results.

Head-to-Head Results

This is another important factor to consider, as certain players do well against other opponents even if they are lower in the rankings.

Rankings

The ATP rankings provide you with a tournament seeding list of the best players in the world. The rankings are determined by how far each player has progressed in major tournaments.
