The draw on Thursday put No. 1 seed Djokovic, No. 5 Rafael Nadal, and No. 6 Carlos Alcaraz – the top three favorites – in the same half of the draw.
But despite facing a difficult path to the final, Vegas oddsmakers have made Novak Djokovic the opening favorite to win the 2022 French Open men’s singles tournament.

Tricky Route to the Final for Djokovic
Novak Djokovic will start his title defense against Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan and could potentially play long-time rival Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.
After missing the Australian Open because of visa issues related to his unvaccinated status, the French Open will be the Serb’s first Grand Slam of the year.
Although Nadal would usually look to avoid playing Novak Djokovic as early as the quarter-finals, the Spaniard will be grateful for the chance, given his chronic foot injury.
The King of Clay, who is hoping to extend his impressive record at the French Open with a 14th win, starts against Australia’s Jordan Thompson.
Alcaraz, who beat both Djokovic and Nadal on his way to the Madrid Open title last month, could set up a semi-final meeting with either of the two tennis betting site favorites. This promising 19-year-old begins his tournament against a qualifier.
Although Nadal would usually look to avoid playing Novak Djokovic as early as the quarter-finals, the Spaniard will be grateful for the chance, given his chronic foot injury.
Outside of the top three, Stefanos Tsitsipas represents decent betting value, as he has avoided the half featuring Djokovic, Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alexander Zverev.

First-Round Matches – Value Bets
If you’re looking to place some action on first-round matches, check out these two top picks.
Corentin Moutet is a skilled lefty that could cause problems for a recovering Wawrinka.
The 2015 French Open champion is coming back from two knee surgeries and has not played a five-set match since the 2021 Australian Open. Considering that Moutet will be playing in front of a home crowd, backing him to upset the odds against the Swiss star is a tempting bet.
Tommy Paul who’s seeded at a major for the first time is at a career-high ranking and won the French Open boys’ singles title in 2015. Therefore, many expect him to make a statement in the first round.
Admittedly, Garin has an excellent pedigree on clay courts and made the quarter-finals in Rome last week. However, he has been far from his best this year.
