Florida Panthers (+550)

A few months ago, Vegas oddsmakers had the Florida Panthers at +700 to win the Stanley Cup. Now the return of top defenceman Aaron Elblad has led bookmakers to shorten their odds to +550.

Sam Reinhart, Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Carter Verhaeghe have formed one of the best forward groups in the NHL. Many NHL futures bettors avoided placing early action on Florida because of the question marks surrounding goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. However, the Russian has been solid to secure a 23-4-3 with a .920 save percentage record.

Although the Panthers have slain opponents when playing at home, they have struggled on the road (9-7-5 mark). Florida fans will hope they turn this around with a road-heavy schedule on the horizon.

Vegas Golden Knights (+850)

The Vegas Golden Knights have done well to recover after feeling the burn of missing several key players – most notably, Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty. They have dragged themselves from fourth in December to fifth in the Pacific Division. As the Knights are currently 27-16-3, they are legitimate contenders to lift the Stanley Cup.

NHL betting sites have them at +850 to win the biggest prize in hockey, but if star acquisition Jack Eichel makes his expected return, expect their odds to shorten dramatically.

Boston Bruins (+1800)

At +1800 odds to win the Stanley Cup, the Boston Bruins have decent betting value. Boston has been boosted by the return of star goaltender Tuukka Rask. Admittedly, he’s a bit of a question mark to start, but the veteran’s experience and presence in the dressing room will surely help their chances of making the playoffs.

As Boston has elite forwards – Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Patrice Bergeron – and a solid defensive group, other franchises will want to avoid them in the postseason. At the moment, they are the league leaders in expected goals for percentage and are fourth in high-danger chances for percentage. So if the Bruins keep up the excellent work, expect their Stanley Cup odds to drop.

Minnesota Wild (+1500)

Finishing on 110-point pace, the Minnesota Wild were last season’s surprise package. They shook off the shackles of mid-table mediocrity due to the exploits of the goaltending tandem of Cam Talbot and rookie Kaapo Kahkonen combined with a breakthrough performance from winger Kirill Kaprizov.

This season, the Wild have again become one of the best teams in the league but have suffered a recent five-game losing streak – hence their +1500 Stanley Cup betting value. However, the Wild have put that slump behind them and are now 9-0-1 in their last 10. Two weeks ago, sportsbooks had the Wild’s Stanley Cup odds at +2000. They have since climbed to second in the league in points percentage to help their odds shorten to +1500.

Carolina Hurricanes (+700)

It’s been quite a turnaround for the Carolina Hurricanes. As recently as last week, NHL Vegas oddsmakers had the Canes at +1300 odds to lift the Stanley Cup. Now, many hockey fans and pundits see them as one of the best teams in the league. This is partly due to Frederik Andersen’s incredible goaltending. The Hurricanes are sitting comfortably in second with a 31-9-2 record in points percentage. Although their betting value has taken a hit, they look like genuine contenders.
