Golden State Warriors Odds
Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors

After winning three and losing two NBA Finals between 2015 and 2019, the past couple of seasons has seen a significant drop off in achievements for the Golden State Warriors, with them missing out on the NBA playoffs for two consecutive years.

The past couple of years have seen the Warriors struggling with injuries and rebuilding, but there are reasons to believe that there could be a turnaround in their fortunes this season though.

Many popular offshore sportsbooks seem to think that the Warriors are genuine contenders for the 2022 NBA Championship, with Bovada making them the 4th favorites at betting odds of +1000, with only the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks ahead of them in the betting.

The Big Three are Back

The main reason for the belief in the Golden State Warriors is that their ‘Big Three’ of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson look set to be reunited on the court for the coming season.

Thompson has missed each of the last two seasons as a result of a torn left ACL and then a torn right Achilles, but his rehabilitation appears to making good progress and he’s on track to return for the new season.

In addition to the long-awaited return of Thompson, there have also been a revamp of the bench, including a return to Golden State for the veteran Andre Iguodala, Finals MVP back in 2015.

Up And Comers

There is also an expectancy that a new youthful core will provide the depth to help out Curry and company this season. There’s certainly an expectation that Jordan Poole will continue to develop, after the third-year guard averaged 14.4 points after the All-Star break last season.

Other young players who will be expected to contribute and provide the Warriors with additional depth over the coming season, include second-year center James Wiseman and rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

The Warriors last won the NBA Championship in 2018 and although they might not be the unstoppable force they were then, there is at least sufficient reason to believe that the roster under Steve Kerr is again one that can be spoken of as a potential champion.
