So the moneyline between the Yankees and the Rays is pretty close, however, the Yankees are a slight favorite so you would have to wager $130 to win a total of $230 on them winning the game ($100 profit). The underdogs in this instance could land you with a $210 win with just a $100 wager, giving you a $110 profit.

To make this kind of bet in the sportsbooks simply click the odds of the team you want to bet on, the bet will then be placed into your betting slip. You can then select how much you would like to bet, so for instance you don’t have to bet $100, you could bet say $10 on the Rays to look to lock up $21. MLB Totals Bets

A negative value in our example of -1.5, means the Yankees are favored to score 1.5 runs more than the Rays. So You can bet on them at increased odds compared to the moneyline, but then they must win by at least 2 more runs.

A positive value, displayed in this case with the Rays at +1.5 means that you can bet on this team with slightly worse odds than the moneyline, but they will have a 1.5 run lead from the beginning of the game, so in the case of a marginal loss, you can still win your bet.

Let’s look at this in a little more detail: We place $110 on the Runline odds of -110 for the Rays against the Yankees, the final score is 5-4 to the Yankees, but because we bet on the Runline, we have a 1.5 point buffer. This means the score as we look at it is Yankees 5, Rays 5.5, meaning we win the bet and cash in a total of $210 for $100 profit.
