The Los Angeles Dodgers look the worthy favorites to win the World Series this year. They essentially have the same team as last season, with the addition of the defending NL Cy Young Award winner, Trevor Bauer.
Last year’s shortened 60-game season saw the Dodgers win 43 times, which if repeated over a full season means they would have won 116 games, which would have tied the 2001 Mariners and the 1906 Cubs for the most wins in a season.

The New York Yankees potentially look to be the strongest challengers to the defending champions, although they are a roster that has seemed particularly prone to injury setbacks and it’s 12 years since they’ve been to the World Series. There’s also an argument that they are too reliant on Gerrit Cole when it comes to really top level starting pitching.
They will have been helped in having retained the services of DJ LeMahieu, while their cause in the American League East could be helped in the Toronto Rays having shed several players.
