Gulfstream Park Racing Tips

Picks for Gulfstream Park & Santa Anita

There’s a fantastic race card at Rosehill in Australia Saturday morning. It features two Group 1’s, a pair of Group 2’s and a trio of Group 3’s. Be sure to keep an eye on the young British jockey Tom Marquand as he can’t stop riding winners over in Australia and he recently enjoyed his first Group 1 success.

But at a more civilised time of day there are also two fantastic cards here in good old USA to look at. The first starts at 11.30am at Gulfstream Park and this bumper 14 race meeting features the Grade 1 Curlin Florida Derby (due off at 6.36pm local time) which has been the strongest guide to finding Kentucky Derby winners in recent years.

Our Gulfstream Park Racing Tips

Tip: Tiz The Law (6.36pm Gulfstream Park) +120 (2.20) with myBookie.

Tiz The Law (+110 with MyBookie) is the obvious horse racing pick here. At the start of February this one took the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes by three lengths – a winning margin which could have been further.

Runner-up there, Ete Indien, franked the form by taking the Grade Fountain of Youth by a huge 8-length margin three weeks later. This confirms the awesome figures Tiz The Law posted in the Holy Bull and there’s no good reason to expect the re-opposing Ete Indien (+500 at Ladbrokes) to reverse the form today.

Tip: Tonalist’s Shape (4.49pm Gulfstream Park) +250 (3.50) with MyBookie
Early in the day two other horses with ‘previous’ clash in the Grade 2 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Park Oaks in the 4.49pm race). Tonalist’s Shape is unbeaten in five lifetime starts but many judges believe Todd Pletcher’s Spice Is Nice can turn the tables on a length-and-a-half defeat a month ago.

US Sportsbook SportsBetting.ag make Spice Is Nice their +200 favourite in their early Gulfstream Park betting odds but as Spice Is Nice four-pounds worse off from their last meeting, surely there’s no good reason for her to reverse the form here.

One Racing Pick for Santa Anita:
Tip: Ragtime Blues (1pm Santa Anita) with -150 (1.67) with Ladbrokes
In California there’s a six furlong maiden special weight contest at Santa Anita which looks at the mercy of Bob Baffert’s Ragtime Blues.

Runner-up in his only two-year-old start (at Los Alamitos) this one was the fastest of over 100 horses to work over five furlongs at Santa Anita on March 19 and with none of his rivals capable of matching his bullet times, this should be a simple case of point and shoot from the 2 gate for rider Drayden van Dyke.
