Top Golfers

Daniel Berger and Brooks Koepka are the biggest names on the field. After calling his world No. 20 ranking “embarrassing“, Koepka had a strong showing at the Waste Management Open. As for Niemann, he played exceptionally well at the Genesis Invitational. The 23-year-old Chilean got to 16-under through two rounds to win his second on TOUR. As a result, top online sportsbooks have them as joint second favorites to go all the way.

Other top golfers in the field include former Honda Classic winners Sungjae Im (2020) and Rickie Fowler (2017), as well as Louis Oosthuizen, Matthew Wolff, Tommy Fleetwood, Ian Poulter, and Lee Westwood. Expect these competitors to go for glory in a competition low on big stars.

Past Winners

Matt Jones lifted the trophy at last year’s Honda Classic after winning by five strokes at 12-under. The Australian’s performance was all the more impressive when you consider that, apart from Jones, only Fowler has finished at 10-under or better in the last ten years. Keith Mitchell also won the event in 2019, but the 2020 winner Sungjae Im is the favorite to win the 2022 edition of this PGA TOUR event.

The Course

The Champion Course at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens is less than 7,200 yards as a par 70. Keeping the ball in the fairway will be paramount to success because there’s a lot of water on the course. Also, players will need to watch out for three holes at the end of their rounds known as the “Bear Trap” (Nos. 15-17) – these are some of the most challenging holes on TOUR (two of which are par 3s).

Value Bets

Check out these betting options below if you’re looking for a higher potential winning return from your wagers. However, before opting to place these underdog bets at online golf betting sites, keep in mind that the longer the odds, the lower the chances are of you winning.

Cameron Tringale +3100

After four runners-up in his career, Cameron Tringale could finally go all the way in Florida this week. Considering the last four Honda Classic events have seen three first-time winners, this is a decent bet. However, his long odds are due to his lack of consistency. In his last seven tourneys, he’s managed four stellar finishes (T-2nd, T-3rd, T-7th, T-13th) and missed the cut three times.

Keith Mitchell +3400

As Keith Mitchell won the Honda Classic in 2019, he has proven that he can reach the heights needed to win this year’s event. What’s more, he’s been putting on some solid performances of late – in his last 24 rounds, he’s second in SG: off-the-tee, third tee-to-green, and fourth in total strokes gained. Therefore, at +3400 to win outright, it’s a tempting bet.
