On Saturday night, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (62-7-2) will return to the ‘Mecca of Boxing’, Las Vegas, Nevada, in the hope of making more history (and money) by winning yet another belt.

Pacquiao will now challenge the Cuban veteran Yordenis Ugás (26-4) in the main event for his WBA Welterweight belt. Pacman was originally scheduled to fight Errol Spence Jr. who had to withdraw with an injured eye and was replaced by Ugás.

Manny Pacquiao wants to win the WBA (Super) welterweight championship from Yordenis Ugas which he won in a battle against Abel Ramos in 2020.

Pacquiao said “I want to say that I’m praying for Errol to make a fast recovery from his injury. Health is always the priority and the most important thing. I did my best in training and in preparation for this fight, so I wanted to make sure my hard work was not wasted.”

Who is Yordenis Ugás?

Yordenis Ugás Hernández is a Cuban boxer who has held the WBA (Super) welterweight title since January 2021. He previously holding the WBA (Regular) belt from 2020 until being promoted to Super champion.

He’s a former Olympic bronze medalist and amateur world champion, turned professional in 2010 and now has a 26-4 record with 12 knockouts.

In 2019, he also tried to challenge for the WBC welterweight championship.
